Three on the Hose with a Single Tree

December 23, 1976. Fire fought in 1976. Notice firefighters’ hats are on backwards to shield them from the heat from the fire. It also looks as though they are using a single tree, a recycled piece of carriage equipment used from the horse drawn fire engines. They were modified to be a single pole with a large iron ring attached to the middle. This enabled two men to pull and hold the hose more easily, while another firefighter would direct the spray.
