George Tomasovic, Chairman
Fire-Rescue Dept.
George Tomasovic was elected Chairman in August 2010. He has served as a Fire Trustee since 1999 and served as Chairman of the Administrative Advisory Committee. He has served the citizens of Dallas as a Firefighter since 1983 and currently holds the rank of Battalion Chief.
Chief Tomasovic holds a Bachelor of Science-Finance from Pennsylvania State University at State College, Pennsylvania and a Master of Science-Accounting from the University of Texas at Dallas. He is a Certified Public Accountant.

Steve Umlor, Vice Chairman
Police Dept.
Steve Umlor was appointed to the Board of Trustees in December 2000 to fill an unexpired Police Trustee term. He was elected by his fellow officers to fill a full term effective June 2001. He was elected to the position of Vice Chairman of the Board in June 2011.
Mr. Umlor has served the citizens of Dallas as a police officer since 1983, currently holding the rank of Sergeant. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Ferris State College of Big Rapids, Michigan.

Rick Salinas, Deputy Vice Chairman
Fire-Rescue Dept.
Rick Salinas was elected in a special election in the Spring of 2009 to fill the remaining term of a retiring Board Member. He was elected to the position of Deputy Vice Chairman of the Board in August 2010.
Mr. Salinas is a graduate of Southern Methodist University, where he earned a bachelor of Business Administration degree, majoring in Real Estate and Real Estate Finance. He has over 30 years experience as a Real Estate Appraiser of residential and commercial properties.
Since December of 1980, Mr. Salinas has served the citizens of Dallas, Texas, as a firefighter. He is active in the Dallas Hispanic Firefighters Association, the Dallas Fire Fighters Association (DFFA) Local 58, and the Dallas Black Firefighters Association .
He was awarded the Rookie of the Year Award in 1982, the Julius Schepps Community Service Award in 1995, and the Hispanic Firefighters Association Community Service Award in 2009. He currently holds Master Firefighter and Master ARFF (Airport Rescue Fire Fighting) Certifications.

City Council
Jerry Allen was appointed to the Board in 2008.
Mr. Allen serves Council District 10 of the City of Dallas and as
Vice-Chair of the City's Finance, Audit & Accountability committee.

Samuel L. Friar
Fire-Rescue Dept.
Samuel L. Friar was elected in a special election in early 2011 to fill the remaining term of a retiring Board Member. He has served with the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department since 1984 and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant.
Lt. Friar is a graduate of Jackson State University, Jackson, MS where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle, PA. After three years of active service in the U.S. Army, Lt. Friar served in the U.S. Army Reserve for a combined total of thirty years service, retiring as a full colonel.
Lt. Friar has been a Certified Paramedic for over 25 years, holds a Fire Instructor II certification, and is a Master Firefighter.

Scott Griggs
City Council
Scott Griggs was elected to the Dallas City Council in May, 2011 to represent District 3 and the residents of West Dallas, Oak Cliff, and Mountain Creek/The Woods. Scott, 36, grew up in Dallas, attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a degree in chemistry before attending law school at the University of Texas.
He was appointed to the DPFP Board in January of 2012.

Delia Jasso
City Council
Delia D. Jasso, was elected to the Dallas City Council in June 2009 to represent District 1, and was appointed to the Dallas Police and Fire Pension Board of Trustees in October 2011.
Having served as a community and civic leader for more than 20 years, Delia came to her Council seat with a proven track record of success in serving the citizens of District 1, Oak Cliff and the City of Dallas.
In addition, she was appointed by the Mayor to serve on the Board of the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the North Central Texas Council of Governments’ Emergency Preparedness Planning Council.
Delia graduated from Skyline High School and went on to study Journalism at Southern Methodist University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
Delia is married to Justice of the Peace Juan Jasso and they have two grown children, Eric and Laura.

Sheffie Kadane
City Council
Sheffie Kadane was appointed to the Board in 2010. He serves Council District 9 of the City of Dallas.
He was elected to the Dallas City Council in 2007 and re-elected in 2009. He serves as the Vice-Chair of the Transportation and Environment Committee, and serves on the Public Safety, Economic Development, and various other committees.

John Mays
Police Pensioner Trustee
John Mays was elected as the Police Pensioner Trustee on the Board of Trustees effective June 2001. He is a member of the Investment Advisory Committee.
Prior to his current Board position, Mr. Mays served as an employee-elected member of the Board of Trustees for almost 20 years (1981-2000) and has served on various committees. He retired from the Dallas Police Department in 2000 with over 35 years of service, holding the rank of Sergeant.
Sgt. Mays is an active member of the Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems (TEXPERS), the National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems (NCPERS), and the National Association of Police Officers (NAPO). He is past Editor of the Dallas Police Association News and has been a pension conference speaker. He attended Sam Houston University and Bishop College.

Richard Wachsman
Fire-Rescue Pensioner
Richard Wachsman was elected as the Fire Pensioner Trustee effective June 2001. He is a member of the Administrative Advisory Committee.
Prior to his current Board position, he served as an employee-elected Fire Trustee for over 17 years and served on various committees. He retired from the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department in 2001 with 41 years of service, holding the rank of Battalion Chief.
Mr. Wachsman has been a member of the Executive Committee of the National Conference of Public Employee Retirement Systems (NCPERS) and currently serves as treasurer. |
